Inspirations

Some other blogs I love focus on parties and table set up. When doing a fancier dinner party or a holiday celebration, it's important to also think about how you style your table, present your food, and the general color scheme you're going for. These next sites are my Go-To-Blogs where I find lots of inspiration, and I know you will too!
  • foodfilosofi -- my friend and cookbook partner Chandra's gorgeous blog with quite possibly the prettiest pictures of food ever and amazing recipes
  • Le Cupcakerie -- my friend Maryn's fabulous blog about her adventures that often find her in a fabulous restaurant or making croissants from scratch (!)
  • TomKat Studio -- focuses mostly on children's themed parties; DIY projects; table and party decorations you can make yourself or order from their store
  • Style Me Pretty -- mostly wedding-centric, although I find the ideas and themes can be easily adapted to adult parties, bridal showers, birthday parties, and seasonal fancier dinners; DIY projects; great picture boards for ideas and themes
  • Couture Parties -- mostly wedding-centric but also great ideas for other adult and children's parties
  • Postcards & Pretties -- LOVE this blog, I check it daily; gorgeous picture boards for seasonal weddings that can easily be adapted to adult parties and holidays
  • The Shiksa In The Kitchen -- so wonderful for Jewish cooking! I'm not even Jewish and I love her recipes and updates on classics!
Other websites I've found useful for the eccentric culinary historian in me. These are for your curious questions on how to do what I call "period food." I like to throw themed parties, and I like to keep the food and drink as authentic as I can as well. The following sites help me reach back into history for inspiration and authenticity.

And finally, miscellaneous "stuff" that is important and awesome in their own way:
  • Save On Crafts -- discounted bulk buy for your party needs...like...moss balls...
  • Levine Tax -- Geoff is a fantastic tax dude...if you need someone to use, then call Geoff!
  • Bene-fit -- personal training; my great friend Amanda runs it and is awesome! check out their bootcamps if you live in SoCal/OC area!
